Which Mg models fail their MOT less for their age?
In 2024, 84.0% of MOTs on the 14 Mg models published here passed (80.0% first time, 4.0% after a fix at the test centre), from 117,636 first tests. Allowing for age (not mileage), these Mg models fail about as often as normal: brand MOT Risk Index 98.5 (95% CI 97.4–99.6; 100 = normal).
Among Mg models with at least 10,000 first tests, the MG HS has the lowest index (83.8) and the MG 3 the highest (124.6).

Where are Mg models worse than other cars of the same age?
Allowing for age, Mg models fail on brakes and noise, emissions and leaks more than other cars of the same age: 13.5 failures per 100 tests against 12.6 expected (0.8 more; 95% interval 0.71 to 0.92) and 5.4 failures per 100 tests against 4.5 expected (0.8 more; 95% interval 0.74 to 0.88); the two intervals overlap, so neither is clearly first.
