Which Tesla models fail their MOT less for their age?
In 2024, 84.8% of MOTs on the 4 Tesla models published here passed (83.3% first time, 1.5% after a fix at the test centre), from 86,273 first tests. Allowing for age (not mileage), these Tesla models fail 19% more often than normal: brand MOT Risk Index 119.0 (95% CI 117.2–120.8; 100 = normal).
Among Tesla models with at least 10,000 first tests, the Tesla Model S has the lowest index (97.7) and the Tesla Model 3 the highest (124.7). On raw pass rates, the Tesla Model 3 comes first instead, because the models' fleets differ in age.
